BRINGING COMPLEX TOPICS TO LIFE
Complex Concepts, Simplified Visuals:
The sheer breadth of topics required high visual adaptability. I translated microscopic and abstract concepts into clear, accurate illustrations—ranging from intricate atomic structures for chemistry, to invisible force fields for physics, and complex cellular biology diagrams. The challenge was ensuring absolute scientific accuracy while keeping the imagery instantly digestible for the target age group.
Character Continuity & Action:
To guide readers through this mammoth amount of information, the books featured two recurring characters, Isaac and Rosalind. I maintained tight continuity for this dynamic duo, drawing them dozens of times across hundreds of pages in an endless variety of dynamic poses, expressions, and scenarios as they interacted with the science around them.
Narrative Comic Strips & History:
Beyond the diagrams, I illustrated historical cartoon strips that dramatised landmark scientific breakthroughs. This meant researching and rendering accurate historical scientific objects and settings, blending narrative sequential art with biographical facts to make the history of science feel accessible and alive.

Managing the massive scope of the Secrets of Science series for Arcturus Publishing was a masterclass in visual endurance and technical precision. Working alongside author Anna Claybourne, I illustrated multiple 120-page books that transformed heavy STEM concepts into a vibrant, narrative-driven journey of discovery for young readers.
This series demonstrates my ability to successfully manage large-scale, high-page-count projects from concept to completion. By collaborating closely with the author, I ensured that dense academic data became an inviting, structured, and beautifully cohesive visual world.
