lluminating Words with Eye-Catching Imagery
Collaborating with Britannica Books to bring Britannica's Word of the Day to life was an incredibly fun, typographic, and conceptual adventure.
For art buyers, publishers, and creative directors exploring my portfolio, this title highlights my ability to co-create within a collaborative illustration team and design artwork that directly translates abstract linguistics into narrative imagery.

My role as an illustrator on this project required a playful, imaginative touch. Taking wacky, sophisticated, or obscure vocabulary words—ranging from old-fashioned terms to modern tech jargon—I crafted bold, eye-catching illustrations that visually decode definitions for young readers. Each illustration had to hit the perfect comedic and educational note, instantly communicating the essence of a word while keeping the book's overall layout fresh, cohesive, and bursting with colour.

About the Book
Aimed at word lovers and curious minds aged 8 and up, Britannica's Word of the Day is designed to build an impressive vocabulary over the course of a single year. The book introduces 366 masterfully chosen words alongside pronunciation guides, definitions, and fascinating etymological trivia.
Throughout its pages, my artwork helps a quirky menagerie of animal characters navigate hilarious scenarios.
The book features:
Daily Visual Word Guides: Illuminating definitions to make advanced vocabulary memorable.
Story of the Month Spreads: Bringing to life outlandish, narrative-driven summaries that weave all of that month's new words into a single comic tale.
Themed Lexicons: Playful visual spreads grouping together words meant for arguments, creative expression, or technical ideas.
